– Israel’s first king (Lesson for 22 Jul)

Introduce today’s lesson about Leadership by explaining to your child  that leaders are people in charge. Prompt them with questions such as: who wears a crown? Who is in charge at school? Who is in charge of everything?

Read the story in 1 Samuel 8-10

The Lesson – this true story from the Bible tells us that :

God’s people didn’t listen to him even though He is the King in charge of all kings.

Questions from the story to ask your children:

  • What did God’s people want? (A king)
  • Did God say that a king would be good for them? (No)
  • Did the people listen to God? (No)
  • What was their new king called? (Saul)

Prayer

Dear Father God, you are the King in charge of all kings. Help me to obey what You say in the Bible.

Then ask your child if there is anything they would like to pray about. After which you can close the prayer.
